A Fine Finish: A Good Boy (by Gwen)

This is Triton.  The photo was taken this past summer. Triton had a tough fall/winter starting with a broken leg that got worse after surgery that then later needed to be amputated (suspecting bone cancer).  Although he was recovering and getting around amazingly well, over the past few days he started deteriorating very quickly.

So after a visit to the vet, Arlis and I made the tough decision to take him out of his pain today.  This was especially hard since I am out of town, but I know it is the right decision. Triton just turned 10.  He was a very good and sweet boy. He will be greatly missed, but was able to claim a good and happy life right to the end.  For this we are grateful. My hope is that I always show as much dignity, patience and grace to others through any of the difficult periods of my life.  As pets often are, he was a great example. So here's to you Triton, your life wasn't near long enough, but thanks for sharing it with us. You will always be remembered as a very good boy!
