Think Tank: Knitting Your Thinking Hat

Honestly, this post was really going to be for Sunday, but alas, my travels prevented me from posting on Sunday. But it works for today too -- so here it is!  This past weekend I spent time with the El Segundo Slipt Stitchers guild sharing my knowledge on entrelac.  They are a very fun group of fiber folk!  Sunday's class was my Mix and Match Entrelac class where students work on creating their own hats from a very basic recipe.  In most classes, one or two students will get their hats complete.  Not because it is particularly difficult, but each unit is different and they have to THINK ABOUT what they want to do.  However, this group of students was OUTSTANDING!

You can see that several of the hat are completed, and most are well on their way to completion!  I love this class because it allows the students to be as challenged as they want to be and demonstrates how creativity can be combined within a very structured fabric.  The next time I am teaching the class is at Stitches East (spaces are still open) and when I visit Kiwi Knitting at the beginning of November.  I will also be teaching a different version at Stitches ETC at West, so there are lots of possibilities for knitting your own thinking hat!!!

  1. Thanks to a GREAT weekend of Entrelac workshops...I've become a "biased knitter".
Yes, Gwen taught our knitting guild many tips, techniques and tricks and made the hours fly by with her generous portions of humor.
    Thank you, Gwen.
